Getting started

Booking and fees

How do I book an online consultation?

Message +92 343 8752531 on WhatsApp with your name, age, city, and a short description of your concern, and attach photographs of any recent lab reports. The clinic replies with available consultation times. You can also call the same number or use the email form on the appointment page.

What are the consultation hours?

9:00 AM to 11:00 PM Pakistan time, seven days a week, including evenings, so you do not need to take time off work.

What is Dr. Mahboob Ahmad's fee?

The fee is shared on WhatsApp at the time of booking rather than published on the website, because treatment is individual: a single follow-up call and a months-long supervised reversal program are very different things, and one flat figure would mislead more than it informs. Message +92 343 8752531, describe your situation briefly, and the clinic will tell you the exact fee for what you actually need. You decide after you know the amount; nothing is charged until you confirm your booking.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly, with no referral letter from another doctor or hospital. Most patients come on their own, or on a family member's suggestion after watching the YouTube lectures. If you are already under another doctor's care, that is fine too: bring your existing prescriptions and reports to the consultation so the two treatments never work against each other. Continuity matters more than paperwork, and the clinic will always tell you if your case needs something online care cannot provide.

What if I do not have recent lab reports?

Book anyway. Dr. Mahboob Ahmad will advise exactly which tests to get done at a laboratory near you, so you are not paying for tests you do not need.

What if I miss my appointment slot?

Message the clinic on WhatsApp as soon as you can and your slot will be rearranged. Missed calls happen: load-shedding, a family matter, a shift that ran late. There is no penalty and nobody is scolded; the clinic simply offers the next time that suits you. With hours running 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM Pakistan time, seven days a week, a replacement slot is usually found quickly. If you know in advance that a time will not work, say so early so the slot can go to another patient.

Phone and video care

Online consultations

Are consultations by phone or video?

Either, whichever suits you. Video is useful if you want to show something, but a plain phone call works fully and is often easier on a weak connection.

Is an online consultation as effective as an in-person visit?

For type 2 diabetes, care depends on your lab results, your medication history, and a detailed conversation about diet and routine, all of which work fully over a call. Where a physical examination is genuinely needed, Dr. Mahboob Ahmad will say so and guide you to appropriate local care.

What should I send before my consultation?

Photographs of any recent lab reports (HbA1c, fasting glucose, lipid profile), a list of your current medicines and doses including insulin, any home blood sugar readings you have recorded, and your weight. The full checklist is on How it works.

Can I get a prescription online?

Yes. After your consultation, Dr. Mahboob Ahmad sends a written prescription and treatment plan on WhatsApp, so you and your family have everything in black and white: medicine names, doses, timings, diet instructions, and what to monitor before the next review. You can have it filled at any pharmacy you trust. Keep it saved on your phone; it also helps any local doctor you see later understand exactly what you are taking and why.

Can I consult from outside Pakistan?

Yes. Overseas Pakistanis consult regularly from the Gulf, the UK, and elsewhere. Time zones are accommodated within the 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM Pakistan time window.

Can family join the call?

Yes, and it is encouraged. Diabetes is managed at the dinner table as much as in any consultation, so the person who cooks at home is especially welcome on the call. Many patients join with a spouse, a son or daughter, or a parent they care for. When the family hears the plan directly from the doctor, it is followed far better than when one person tries to relay it afterwards. There is no extra charge for a family member sitting in.

Is my medical information private?

Yes. Your reports, readings, and conversations stay between you and the clinic. Patient stories and photographs appear on this website only when the patient has given written consent; nothing is ever published without permission. Your number is used for your care and appointment reminders, not for marketing lists. If something feels sensitive, say so when booking: the clinic would rather adjust how it handles your information than have you hold back details the doctor needs.

When should someone seek urgent medical care instead of booking online?

Seek emergency care immediately for severe confusion, fainting, very high or very low blood sugar with symptoms, chest pain, severe breathlessness, or a diabetic foot wound that looks infected. Do not wait for an online reply. This website is not an emergency service.

Progress and testing

Diabetes reversal

What is HbA1c?

HbA1c is a blood test that shows your average blood sugar level over roughly the past two to three months. It is one of the main tests used to diagnose and monitor diabetes and prediabetes. Read more in Understanding HbA1c.

How quickly will my sugar improve?

Honestly: it varies, and be careful with anyone who promises otherwise. Some patients see fasting readings improve within the first weeks of a supervised plan; HbA1c, which reflects roughly three months of averages, takes longer to move. Speed depends on how long you have had diabetes, your weight, your other conditions, and how closely the plan is followed. Nothing is guaranteed, and remission is not the same as cure. What you will get is honest monitoring: your own numbers, reviewed at every follow-up, and a plan adjusted when they stall. The Diabetes Reversal Program page explains how progress is tracked.

What lab tests will I need, and where should I get them done?

Usually HbA1c and fasting glucose to begin with, and depending on your case a lipid profile, kidney and liver tests, or uric acid. Any trusted laboratory in your city is fine; the clinic does not tie you to a particular lab, so use whichever reliable one is convenient and affordable. Photograph the report and send it on WhatsApp. If a value confuses you, do not worry: reading the report with you is part of the consultation. The blood sugar levels chart explains the common ranges in plain language.

Safety first

Medicines and insulin

Can I stop my medicine after joining a lifestyle program?

No, not on your own. Medication and insulin are only ever adjusted by Dr. Mahboob Ahmad, based on your monitored blood sugar and lab results over time. Stopping medication yourself can be dangerous. See the Insulin & Medication Review page.

Does the doctor treat type 1 diabetes?

The practice's programs are focused on type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, and related metabolic conditions. If you have type 1 diabetes, please contact the clinic directly to discuss your specific situation.

Can type 1 diabetes be managed online?

Only partly, and this deserves a straight answer. Type 1 diabetes means the body makes no insulin, so insulin is needed for life; it cannot be reversed by diet, and no honest doctor will claim otherwise. Children and newly diagnosed type 1 patients need in-person care, usually with a paediatric or endocrinology team, for insulin initiation and emergencies. Where online consultation genuinely helps is with management questions: diet around insulin, Ramadan planning, understanding readings, and knowing when to seek urgent care. Message the clinic and you will be told plainly whether online support fits your case.

Can gestational diabetes be handled online?

Guidance, yes; complete care, no. Gestational diabetes appears during pregnancy and affects both mother and baby, so it must be managed with your obstetrician, through regular scans and in-person antenatal checks that no online service can replace. What an online consultation can honestly offer is diet guidance built around Pakistani meals, help understanding your readings, and support alongside what your local doctors advise. If you are pregnant with high sugar and have no local care arranged yet, arranging that comes first, and the clinic will say so plainly rather than take on a role it cannot safely fill.

Food questions

Questions about diet

Will I have to give up roti and rice?

No. A plan built for a Pakistani household does not pretend roti and rice do not exist; it works on portions, flour choice, what the roti is eaten with, and meal timing. Most patients keep eating desi food throughout treatment, adjusted rather than abandoned, which is exactly why these plans survive for months instead of collapsing in the second week the way crash diets do. Your plan starts from what your kitchen already cooks, then gets refined at each follow-up based on how your readings respond.

Do I have to buy special foods or supplements?

No. The plans are built from ordinary food you already buy: atta, daal, sabzi, meat, fruit in sensible portions. Nothing is sold alongside the consultation, no powders, no herbal formulas, no branded meal replacements, and be careful with anyone whose reversal plan depends on a product they happen to sell. If a supplement is genuinely needed, for example vitamin D after a deficient report, it will be written on your prescription with the reason.
